War Child is seeking a motivated Project Officer who can fulfill the following Job description to join the organization.

Job Summary/ Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Program Coordinator in overseeing the daily operations and effective implementation of the project, ensuring alignment with the approved project design, budget framework, donor requirements, and compliance with War Child’s policies, procedures, and technical quality standards. The role will play a vital part in ensuring that the project meets its objectives efficiently and with high quality.
The project is implemented as a joint emergency response by War Child, Juzoor, and the Palestinian Counselling Centre (PCC), with a focus on delivering multi-tiered Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions tailored to the needs of children, adolescents, and caregivers. The project aims to strengthen their resilience and well-being by enhancing access to comprehensive, quality MHPSS services. It directly responds to the escalating psychological and emotional challenges caused by ongoing conflict, displacement, and trauma.

Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Project management and implementation:

  • Support in representing the project in different coordination and reflection meetings with the project implementing partners.
  • Support the overall coordination and implementation of the projects, including risk assessment and management, and lead the coordination between partners daily.
  • Identify and prioritize programmatic needs and ensure that the project/s addresses those needs.
  • Ensures compliance with donor and War Child rules and regulations in all areas, including financial management, record keeping, and procurement, in coordination with the Operations Department.
  • Ensures appropriate programme quality standards are used in the design and implementation of the project/s.
  • Liaise with the MEAL staff to facilitate systematic program monitoring and evaluation are in place and ensure that lessons learned are documented and shared for learning.
  • Secure community and project stakeholder participation and ensure accountability to project participants in the development of the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, and support the implementation of the feedback and complaint response mechanism (FCRM).
  • Develop and maintain a database of all technical and narrative reports, presentations, maps, data and information, and pictures produced by the project.
  • Conducts site visits to monitor progress and provide capacity support to partners as needed.
  • Overseeing and managing the referral process of cases identified through project activities, ensuring that children, caregivers, and other vulnerable individuals are linked to appropriate and timely services. Also track all referred cases, maintain updated records, and ensure follow-up in coordination with War Child’s technical team and partner organizations.
  • Ensuring that War Child safeguarding measurements are taken into consideration in all project activities implemented by the partners and report any breaches to the code of conduct or the child safeguarding policy to the line manager/child safeguarding focal point.
  • Any other assignments requested by the line manager.

2. Networking/coordination/representation/strategic influencing:

  • Proactively develops, coordinates, and maintains productive relationships with project stakeholders, in coordination with the Senior Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures proactive coordination in the field to ensure complementarity and avoid duplication and fragmentation.
  • Identifies strategic programme opportunities, approaches, and modalities for strengthening the PSS, Protection, and education programming, in close collaboration with the partners and the Senior Program Coordinator.
  • Provide inputs to communications products, materials, and campaigns to ensure accurate information about the project when required.
  • Ensures the visibility of the project and activities with relevant national and international audiences.


Knowledge and experience:

  • Relevant academic degree in Business, Project Management, Education, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position, preferably within an NGO or INGO.
  • Experience managing projects focused on protection, psychosocial support, or community-based programming.
  • Proven ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies and donors.
  • Experience in data collection, integration, and reporting.
  • Experience in maintaining the online database and reporting.
  • Experience with community-based programming is preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent English written and spoken required.
